Sacred Journeys 9th Global Conference

UP FTŠ Turistica with partner universities Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and University of the Philippines, Manila

is organising and hosting the Sacred Journeys 9th Global Conference which will be held

in hybrid form at UP FTŠ Turistica and online between July 5 and 8, 2022. 

In each of its editions, the conference addresses pilgrimage as a global phenomenon in various cultures of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Daoism, and other traditions, as well as secular pilgrimage and related practices in the tourism context. The key topics include pilgrimage and the web, pilgrimage as protest, pilgrimage as peacebuilding, and personal pilgrimage. Specific topics include pilgrimage and the square, pilgrimage in works of art and the humanities, pilgrimages associated with "miracles" and gratitude, and "dark" pilgrimages to places of remembrance and commemoration.
