Within the scientific research bilateral project "Comparative analysis of sustainable development of wine tourism in Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with emphasis on wine events and festivals" (BI-BA/21-23-004) we hosted a promising researcher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tijana Banjanin, from 13 From 2 to 15 March 2023. She is employed at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of East Sarajevo as an assistant professor in the field of horticulture (fruit growing, viticulture and winemaking). She obtained her PhD at the renowned Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Belgrade on the topic of Characterization of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of Blatina vine variety in agroecological conditions of Trebinje.

The research visit of  Dr. Tijana Banjanin included various activities: meetings with members of the project team from Turistica to define the topic, structure and work on a joint scientific paper (for publication in the scientific journal Academica Turistica), learning about the potential of wine tourism in Slovenia by visiting selected wineries (Vinakoper, Bordon, Rodica and Steras), the wine fountain in Marezige and a wine event (Malvasia Festival - the Noble Taste of the Mediterranean). In terms of professional networking, a meeting was also organised at the faculty UP FAMNIT (Mediterranean Agriculture Programme). Dr. Tijana Banjanin's specific research focus was on organic viticulture and winemaking, with the transfer of good practices from Slovenia to BiH. In terms of further development of wine tourism, the valorisation of old and indigenous grape and wine varieties was a focus.
